Challenges that Indian youth are facing.

Youths are the biggest capital of any country. And the future of any country depends on the investment made on its youth. So it becomes very crucial that we discuss their challenges and problems. Today youths around the world are facing different challenges and here we going to communicate about the challenges that Indian Youths are dealing with.

Lack of quality education

“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”- Nelson Mandela

As of 2015, the youth literacy rate for India was 89.7 % and the youth literacy rate is the percentage of people ages 15-24 who can both read and write. But the question is if mere reading and writing in a particular language are enough to prepare youth to use all their abilities. Of course not. Proper education can push an ordinary person to do extraordinary things. According to statistics, the number of students going to schools in India is increasing exponentially but a major challenge is the quality of education they are getting in these schools.

There is no doubt in the fact that Indian youth has a great potential that can make India the world power but the condition is that we have to supplement the country's young population with quality education. Education should not just play the role of making a student able to read and write but it should focus on bringing the best out of every youth.

Unemployment

Unemployment and underemployment are major challenges that Indian youth are facing today. A lot of young people are depressed and frustrated in their lives because they are not getting jobs and proper employment.  As of 2019, the estimated youth unemployment rate in India was 23.34 percent. But no proper statistics are available for youths who are not happy with their jobs. Lots of young people just have to take up jobs to support their families and become financially independent.

Lack Of exposure

We always speak that, education is beyond the books and life is beyond the marks but still, it's very unfortunate that for the majority of people education is just a way to get a job and become financially independent. Even the majority of schools and colleges are pushing their students to maintain 75% attendance and attaining good grades instead of giving equal importance to all the fields.

The major challenge is that youths are not aware of all the opportunities and options they have for their future. A lot of educational institutions do provide counseling sessions to students but most of them are admission oriented. Thus, a proper counseling system should be adopted by all government and non- government schools and colleges so that each and every student get exposure to all the possible options for her/his career at the correct age.

"Education should be the synonym of exposure, not just the criteria of satisfying eligibility."

exploitation in the name of experience.

It's a big truth that experience cannot be replaced by anything else but another reality is that lot of young people are getting exploited in the name of experience. Unpaid internships are a perfect way to exploit youth in the name of experience. Well, internships in renowned organizations are definitely helping a lot of youths but at the same time, several young people are doing an internship just to get a letter of recommendation and certificate of experience.

Addiction

Nearly 75% of Indian homes have at least one drug user. In Punjab, nearly 75% of its youth are severely addicted to drugs. In Bengal, drug abuse has been increasing at an exponential rate. Cities like Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Dehli are facing the challenge of increasing drug addicts. So it's quite evident that addiction is the severe problem the Indian youths are dealing with. Increasing addiction is just not affecting the health of teenagers but also killing their work productivity and precious creativity.

Well, the government is trying to spread awareness about drug addiction but there is an addiction that is often overlooked. And this is the digital addiction that has taken a lot of youth in its grip. In today's digital world, many youths are just stuck in mobile phones and limited their lives to electronic devices.
