DIGITAL ADDICTION OF YOUTHS

On 4 February 2004, Mark Zuckerberg launches Facebook to connect all students across Harvard but today in 2020 social media platforms like Facebook, Whatsapp, Instagram, and YouTube have become the reason that youths have forgotten to connect in real life. Youngsters may forget to submit assignments on school and college but they never miss an update online, they may forget to eat their lunch or dinner but they never skip to upload photos on social media. According to a survey conducted by marketing agency Digital Clarity, 16% of the 18- to 25-year-olds displayed symptoms of net addiction. So here in this article, we will talk about the consequences of digital addiction of Youths.

DIGITAL ADDICTION KILLS THE SOCIAL LIFE

In this digital age of the 21st century instead of spending their time with families youths are preferring to watch movies on Netflix, rather of playing outdoor games with friends the younger generation nowadays likes to play online games on a mobile phone, in place of talking to the people around them today's teenagers are choosing to chat on social media, Instead of living in every moment youth is trying to capture every moment in their smartphones. On the one hand, the digital world is giving the youth great opportunities to evolve and on the other hand, the social media platform is restricting the ability of the young generation to think beyond smartphones.

Whether it's a family get-together, birthday party, movie outing, wedding, or any religious function our young generation will never skip a chance to check out on their phones. Well, there is nothing wrong if we are using our phones to play games, chat online, upload photos, and watch videos but if we start giving these things more important than the real aspects of life then it's outcomes will be extremely harmful.

DIGITAL ADDICTION IS HARMFUL FOR HEALTH.

Today's young generation is skipping their meals to play games on a mobile phone, they are avoiding to take proper sleep at night to spend more on digital devices, instead of doing morning players and exercise the first thing that youth do when the day begins is checking out on notifications and messages of the phone. It is medically proved that spending too much time on screen can cause eyestrain, blurry vision, headaches, shoulder pain, and neck pain and even some cases of digital addiction may have severe consequences like anxiety and depression. We have to maintain the balance between use and excessive use of technology and social media.

YOUTHS ARE TOO MUCH DEPENDENT ON TECHNOLOGY.

From clock to calculator, from alarm to the contact numbers youths are completely dependent on their phones. There is no doubt in the fact that technology is here to make our life easier but still youngsters should have the ability to manage things even without the phones.

Whether its a school project, college assignment, debate competition, or an essay contest, youngsters really don't believe in creating the unique content but most of them follow the culture of "copy from the internet". So misuse of technology and social media is destroying the innovative and creative minds of youths.

DIGITAL ADDICTION IS DISTRACTING YOUNGSTERS FOR THEIR GOAL

Technology and social media have brought a great evolution in education and have empowered the youth with a lot of online content that they can use to learn innovative and creative things but at the same time, there are a lot of useless stuff on the internet which is deviating the young generation from their ultimate purpose. A lot of youths are wasting the most precious time of their lives by scrolling YouTube, Playing PUBG, and clicking random photos.
Technology is a weapon that can destroy all the difficulties of the young generation but if it is not used wisely then it can destroy the youths.
