Indian Education System

In a democratic country, India where everyone has the freedom to follow the religion, caste, language, customs, traditions of their own choice but one thing that every Indian is bound to follow is the "Indian Education System". And if you are part of this system then it doesn't matter how fantastic you are in Maths but you can only score well if can learn the facts of history, it doesn't matter how great start-up idea you have but you will only get support if want to crack any government exam or IIT entrance exam, it doesn't matter how outstanding knowledge of the subject you have but you will only be considered qualified if you a degree, it doesn't matter how incredible you are in sports but people will always judge you on the basis of your marks. There are exceptions to these cases but they are so less that they can be neglected. So far the purpose of education has changed from evolving an individual in mental, physical, emotional, and financial terms to publishing degrees and generating mark sheets. Education should be about the overall development of students which should include sports, crafts, creativity, music, and art but nowadays education is just a race where everyone is running behind the marks.

WHY INDIAN EDUCATION SYSTEM NEED TO CHANGE

Underemployment

If our education system is capable enough to produce skilled students who have the ability to work for the betterment of society and country then underemployment won't be a tremendous problem in India. A study conducted by ASSOCHAM says that 93 percent of MBA graduates in India are unemployable. A study by employability assessment company Aspiring Minds claims that 94 percent of engineers in the country are not fit for hiring. Hence it is clear that major modifications are required in our education system to change the scenario.

The degree is the motive, not the development.

According to the report, there are a total of 993 Universities, 39931 Colleges, and 10725 Stand Alone Institutions in India. But the question is how many of these universities, colleges, and institutions are serving the real objective of education which is not confined to classrooms. Except for a few top institutions of India like IITs, IIMs and IISc most of the colleges are there just for the purpose of publishing degrees and preparing students to perform well in college exams but not for real-life challenges of cooperates and Industry. The day these colleges start focusing on the overall development of students rather than directing them towards the visionless culture of running behind the degrees, a major problem will get solved.

Theoretical approach and lack of projects and practices.

Every Indian student must have experience of tolerating boring lectures in colleges or feeling sleepy during the school's theory classes because all this is not less the torture. Even in the 21st century, the Indian education system is a theory centric with very few projects and practicals while the top universities around the world are using practical approaches for their students.
